If you want to apply for a job, you should prepare your cover letter and CV or resume. Cover letter is your advertisement. It introduces you to the employer or Human Resources Specialist. You mention about yourself and your information about the company or that job position. A cover letter is more important than CV or resume. With your letter, an employer or Human Resources Specialist can understand how you express yourself, your ideas and career aim.

The Easiest Way to Format a Cover Letter

If you want to prepare a well cover letter and you don’t have any format, then you can write everything which you will write in your cover letter, later you create a format. Once you write all content (contact information, why you are applying and qualified, signature, etc.). Then you fix the margins, font, and alignment.

Contact Section: You should write your name and surname, address, phone number and mail address. Then you add the date.

Employer Address: You will send the cover letter. So, you should write the employer’s address.

Salutation: You can use “Dr, Mr., Mrs.” or you can use “To Whom It May Concern” when you don’t know the person’s name. You should use formal salutations.

Body: This part includes totally three paragraphs: introduction – body – conclusion paragraphs. You write about your characteristics, positive features, experiences, why you want to work in that job, why you should be chosen for that job. You should mention about your previous experiences. Closing: You should finish your cover letter with a well closing word. It should be formal like respectfully yours.

E-mail Versus Hardcopy: As described above, you should pay attention to the subject line of your mail.

Font Choices: You should use between 10-12 fonts. You shouldn’t use emoticons and emojis.

Spacing: Your letter should be single-spaced. A space should be between each section of the letter.

Proofreading: You should check your spelling and grammatical mistakes. You shouldn’t have any mistakes.
