Termination letter is generally used when an employer decides to fire a worker. You have to write this letter because you need to explain what are the reasons of termination.

For a basic and ordinary letter, you need to include some terms. As usual, you need to write basic demographic information. For example, you will write who is being fired, the company’s name and the name of person who handles the cessation of work. Also, you should specify the date of termination. Then, you have to point out the reason of cessation because all people deserve to know why they are being let go. If the employee did something wrong and got some warnings, you also should include all details about it. For instance, you need to state how many times this person was warned and are they verbal or written. In addition, if your company supplied any kind of property like car or laptop, you have to make sure that asking them back. Another significant point is vocation and last paycheck. If your employee has accrued vacation, you need to pay for it. Also, you have to mention about final paycheck amount and exact day for payment.

Finally, you need to keep your letter professional and respectful but don’t forget to consider this employee’s situation. Therefore, you can show genuine concern instead of being unemotional.
